About DIC
Drug information centers have been around for more than 50 years. There are well over 100s of centers operating around the nation, most of which are connected to hospitals and/or colleges of pharmacy. Although the facilities primarily cater to health professionals, in some circumstances they can serve consumer requirements. There are three main responsibilities: service, instruction, and research. Specific duties in the field of service are frequently performed, including responding to inquiries, assisting the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, and creating newsletters. Educators frequently have to impart knowledge of drugs to pharmacy students. The majority of the services' evaluation has been devoted to questions and the activities of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee.
The Department of Pharmacy Practice at SIMS College of Pharmacy in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, developed the Drug Information Centre (DIC). For the benefit of medical experts, this center offers consultation services. Health care practitioners working across India can seek information about drugs and therapies from DIC. The DIC faculty also offers advice to medical professionals on formulary-related issues. Physicians and other healthcare workers are given unbiased, thorough, and pertinent information about medications and therapies as well as other associated healthcare tasks in order to assist better patient care.
Under the direction of the SIMS College of Pharmacy Principal in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, DIC is managed by the Head of the Department of Pharmacy Practice.
